    The overall aim of the Swedish Wolverine Project is to conduct research that will provide solid knowledge of wolverine ecology, to facilitate science-based management and conservation of wolverines in Scandinavia.

    This project is a long-term individual-based study on wolverine ecology, which provide a unique opportunity to investigate population dynamics, life history and behavioural ecology of wolverines. We use this opportunity to answer general ecological questions that are also needed for management of carnivore conflicts in general, and in reindeer husbandry areas in particular.

    Currently, our project focuses on the following themes:

  1. •Habitat ecology and demography - mechanisms explaining spatial variation in the density of these populations;

  2. •Population dynamics and consequences of management actions;

  3. •Interactions between lynx, wolverine and a common prey;

  4. •Spatial and social ecology.

  5. •In addition, we conduct studies for validation and development of wolverine population surveys.
